About private Functional Integration® Sessions
Why?

Feldenkrais® Functional Integration® lessons can help you learn how move better. Most people wait until something feels bad before they take steps towards moving better. I see these people all the time—people who move stiffly, who hold their shoulder up towards their ear, who favor a knee or a hip. When I get these folks onto my table, it’s always with a sense of relief. I know that Feldenkrais® lessons can help them move more easily, and reduce the discomfort they are feeling. Some people don’t wait until something hurts—they want to improve their coordination or bike farther or hike longer. Regardless of their reason for coming, most people want to improve their mobility so they can do what they want and feel better doing it.
What's it like?
Functional Integration® sessions are one-on-one Feldenkrais® lessons. It starts with a movement evaluation—I spend a few minutes watching the way that you walk and perform simple actions. This evaluation alerts me to your particular movement patterns, so that I can begin to design a course of learning that will show your brain how to move you more effectively. I do this by guiding you through a series of gentle, painless, non-intrusive motions. You are fully clothed and usually lying on my Feldenkrais table, but often you'll also be sitting and standing.

How does it work?
I am trained to understand many movement pattern potentials that exist in the human repertoire. In a session, I am gently moving you through one or more of these patterns that you want to work on and improve, helping you feel what you do best and what you could do better. These movements actually teach your brain how to move. You are learning on a neurological level—so the lessons are internalized and put into use immediately. The neuromotor portions of our brains are starving for variety, for information about new ways to move. Feldenkrais® Functional Integration® lessons teach you easier, more efficient ways to move.
Who is it for?
Everyone, of course! But, my specialty is people with repetitive strain injuries (like carpal tunnel syndrome) and people who have pain from computer use such as a stiff neck, shoulders, upper back, etc. But, I’ve also helped a golfer improve her game, a chef who suffered from hip pain from standing all day long, and a person who habitually locked their jaw. If it moves, I can help you improve it!
